It focuses on the politics of the city of Kufa, the Second Muslim Civil War (fitna) and the memory of Imam Ali still resonant in the city. The lecture explores the long impact of Mukhtar in Shia consciousness and the importance of the ideas of representative governance and the implications of walaya intrinsic to Shia thought and action.
